Daniel Steven Peña Sr.
Chairman of Board
Meet Daniel S. Peña, the Chairman of Elysium Legacy Group, dedicated to transforming the aerospace and defense industry.
He founded, chaired, and served as President and CEO of Great Western Resources Inc. (GWRI), a Houston-based natural resources company listed on the London Stock Exchange. Starting with only $820, he grew GWRI to a $450 million public market capitalization (≈ $1 billion today) in eight years — achieving a staggering 55 million percent growth — while the energy sector collapsed and over 10,000 U.S. companies failed. At the time of its 1997 acquisition, he was the largest individual shareholder. He secured a $20 Million Contract with federal government and achieved a revenue of $50 Million in his first year in business.
Earlier, he co-founded JPK Industries, scaling the vertically integrated petroleum company to $50 million in just three years. His career began at Bear Stearns & Co. and includes senior leadership roles across investment banking, real estate, and diversified industries.
He is also Chairman and Founder of The Guthrie Group (TGG), an international firm specializing in high-impact strategic transactions.
Mr. Peña enlisted in the United States Army as a private, graduated from Infantry Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. He served as an Infantry, Military Police, Intelligence, and Security Officer at NATO Headquarters during the late 1960s.
